Project summary
Seed brands wanted multiwall-paper looks without multiwall-paper breakage. Kraft paper laminated to woven PP, sewn-side, micro-perforated and printed on both faces, delivers dealer-shelf appeal with woven strength.
The challenge
Alfalfa and forage seed is a branded, high-value product sold through farm dealers. Brands traditionally used multiwall paper sacks for their premium look, but paper tears when bags are dropped, stacked high or handled in wet conditions — and a split seed bag is lost product and a lost customer. The brands needed the look of paper with the strength of plastic.
The specification
- Structure: natural or white kraft paper laminated to woven polypropylene, with an optional PE layer.
- Format: sewn-side and sewn-bottom bags in the US 50 lb (22.7 kg) format; pinch-bottom and gusseted versions on request.
- Breathability: micro-perforation lets air escape during filling and lets seed breathe in storage.
- Print: multi-colour print on both faces, including variety names, germination data and lot panels.
- Packing: bundled and palletised for direct delivery to seed plants.
Why it works
- Drop and stack strength. The woven core resists bursting far better than multiwall paper at the same weight.
- Dealer-shelf appeal. The paper face prints crisply and looks premium in a showroom.
- Seed protection. Lamination keeps out dust and splashes while perforations prevent condensation.
- Filling-line friendly. Bags run on the same open-mouth fillers and sewing heads as paper sacks.
